This was my first attempt at building a wooden acoustic instrument.

The top is Engelmann spruce from the Uncompahgre plateau. The back and sides are black walnut from Rogers Mesa outside of Hotchkiss, Colorado. The fingerboard is local apple heart wood with some elk ivory position markers.

The checkered headstock is a mixture of apple heart wood, apple sap wood, and black walnut.
